A MILESTONE IN SAN FRANCISCO BUSINESS TAX REFORM
San Francisco’s business tax reform journey, introduced by Mayor London Breed and Board President Aaron Peskin, has reached a milestone with the final Business Tax Reform Proposal. Guided by Chief Economist Ted Egan, Treasurer José Cisneros, and former City Controller Ben Rosenfield, this measure, which would take effect on January 1, 2025, reflects extensive consultations and collaboration among a myriad of stakeholders, labor, business leaders, and sf.citi members. Our members played a crucial role in shaping this proposal, which simplifies the tax code, raises the small business exemption ceiling, and introduces targeted tax credits. This reform creates a fairer, more reliable economic environment, and we invite all San Franciscans to support this significant achievement for our city’s financial future.
