Our team at the Rudy Bruner Award for Urban Excellence (RBA) would like to wish you a warm and joyful holiday season!
This has been a busy year for the award. We launched a new website, published Challenging Conventions: The 2015 Rudy Bruner Award for Urban Excellence, and just wrapped up our call for entries for the 2017 award cycle.
We received a strong batch of submissions that are remarkably diverse in location, scale, and type. Applicants were evenly spread across the Midwest, Northeast, South, and West with project budgets ranging from $50,000 to nearly $500 million. They address arts and culture, education, food systems, housing, parks and open space, public health and safety, preservation, transportation and infrastructure. All in all, it promises to be a fascinating selection committee discussion!
Next year will be busy as we kick off the 2017 RBA selection process. Stay tuned for:
- Announcement of the five finalists in February
- Blog posts about our site visits to the finalists in March, April, and May
- Announcement of the medalists in June
In the meantime, we’ll continue to explore Building Equity by Design as we check in with past RBA winners and share what we’ve learned with blog posts throughout the year.
