Blanchard lives is Fairfield and is currently the chief of staff to state Comptroller Sean Scanlon. He is challenging incumbent Republican state Senator Tony Hwang. The district includes the towns of Easton, Fairfield, Newtown, Weston and Westport.

“I’ve known Rob for a long time,” stated Himes, who represents the 4th Congressional District, in a press release. “He is laser-focused on our economy, on growth, and making sure that we address the affordability problem, both in terms of housing and healthcare, and all of those areas where families sometimes struggle to make ends meet. I am so excited to work with Rob when he is in the state Senate, and together we can really make progress for the people of the 28th state Senate District.”

Blanchard stated in a press release, “Congressman Himes has worked tirelessly to help families and businesses succeed in a challenging economic climate and has championed efforts to modernize our infrastructure, enact meaningful energy and environmental policies that further protect our coastal communities and further invest in education and employment pathways. I am so excited to have his support and look forward to partnering with him on implementing meaningful solutions to the key issues that impact all Connecticut residents.
