Electric Car Show, Electronics Recycling Event Set for Saturday – Easton Courier

Have you ever wanted to sit in an electric car or need to get rid of an old computer?

On Saturday, May 4 you can do both at Samuel Staples Elementary School during Easton’s Energy and Environmental Task Force’s annual Electric Vehicle Car Show and Electronics Recycling Event. The car show will be held in front of the school from 11 a.m. 1 p.m. while the drive-through electronics recycling will be in the back of the school from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The car show is intended to inform residents about the benefits of electric vehicles, said Cathy Alfandre with the Easton Energy and Environmental Task Force.

“It’s a way for people to come and learn more about actual residents’ experiences about these cars,” said Alfandre.

During the event residents can ask electric car owners questions, sit in an electric car, and learn more about how the cars work. An Easton resident ended up buying an electric car after attending a previous car show, said Alfandre, adding that anyone with an electric car is invited to bring it to the event.

The electronic recycling event is set up like a drive-through. “You drive up, pop your trunk and there are men there who take it to recycling and remove televisions, computers and printers,” said Alfandre. “It’s really easy and fast.”

Accepted items include printers, phones, laptops and cameras. A full list of all items can be found on Take2Recycle.com website.

The task force is always looking to bring ideas to town residents.  If anyone has an idea to make Easton more environmentally friendly or sustainable, email the task force at [email protected].
