Statement Welcoming Bipartisan Climate Legislation

WASHINGTON, DC – Climate Leadership Council CEO Greg Bertelsen issued the following statement welcoming the bipartisan National Climate Adaptation and Resilience Strategy Act (NCARS) co-sponsored by U.S. Senators Chris Coons (D-Del.) and Lisa Murkowski (R-Alaska) and U.S. Representatives Scott Peters (D-Calif.) and María Salazar (R-Fla.):

“The NCARS Act is the latest example of how climate can be an area of bipartisan collaboration in Congress. By streamlining the federal government’s ability to coordinate with state and local governments and respond and adapt to extreme weather events, we will help ensure communities across the country are better protected. We thank Senators Coons and Murkowski and Representatives Peters and Salazar for their leadership. Climate is the most challenging environmental issue of our time. While we know we have effective policy options to respond, it will take both parties coming together to find common ground and chart an adequate and sustainable path forward.”

The Climate Leadership Council works with a broad set of stakeholders to promote the most cost-effective, equitable and politically-viable climate solutions.
