Easton Homeowners and Businesses Urged to Report Flood Damage – Easton Courier

If you have any property damage from the storm that took place on August 18, you can assist the state in getting federal money to rebuild damaged property.

The state Division of Emergency Management and Homeland Security is still asking residents to fill out a survey documenting their damage from the historic rainfall that caused wide-spread flooding and damaged town roads.

The survey, found here, will “assist state and local emergency management officials in understanding the scope of damage caused by recent natural disasters. It is an information-gathering tool only.”

The data collected in the survey could prove crucial in enrolling Connecticut in post-disaster assistance programs, such as those administered by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and the Small Business Administration (SBA).

“Eight Easton residents have already reported their storm damage,” said Easton Police Chief Richard Doyle. “There is still time to fill out the survey.”

Doyle noted that even though the storm occurred three weeks ago, the state is still collecting data in order to receive any federal disaster money. He encourages more residents to participate in the survey.

First Selectman David Bindelglass said Connecticut is not certain it will receive any FEMA assistance, so residents and business owners should complete the survey as soon as possible.

Residents can also email Doyle their property damage at [email protected] which will be directed to the state.
