First Responders, Working Families and Young Voters Groups Endorse Blanchard – Easton Courier

Rob Blanchard, Democratic candidate for Connecticut’s 28th State Senate District, announced a series of endorsements that highlight his commitment to advocating for and leading on policies that lift up firefighters, working families, and young voters, invests in higher education and addresses shortages in the building trades, according to his campaign.

Blanchard earned the endorsements of the Uniformed Professional Fire Fighters Association (UPFFA) of Connecticut, the Connecticut AFL-CIO, Connecticut State Building Trades council (CSBTC), and the College Democrats of Connecticut.

“These organizations represent the workers, first responders, families, and future who are critical not only to the function of our state and communities, but our economy as well,” Blanchard said. “I am honored to have their support and am committed to working collaboratively to pass legislation that protects our first responders, funds our state universities and colleges and workforce training programs, strengthens our economy for middle class families, and attracts more workers to build our economy.

“This coalition of early support underscores that now is the time to elect a leader who will bring new ideas and a fresh perspective to addressing our state’s challenges, while doing the hard work to make a difference,” he said.

Together, these organizations represent more than 285,000 Connecticut residents, who live and work in every municipality across the state. UPFFA represents 4,000 career firefighters. Connecticut AFL-CIO represents 250,000 active and retired union members in the private sector, public sector, and building trades. CSBTC represents approximately 30,000 construction workers across the state.

These groups join others who have endorsed Blanchard to be their next state senator. Supporters include U.S. Congressman Jim Himes, Easton First Selectman Dave Bindelglass, Easton Selectman Nick D’Addario and others.
