Statement

I am running for re-election because I am really seeing a dramatic increase in public momentum of all ages engaging in policymaking on the state level: how we fund public education, feed students, how we address the climate crisis, how we invest in families with children, childcare, services for seniors, people with developmental disabilities, our first responders, how we communicate with the public, how we show up in letting our elected policymakers know what is important to us, and what changes we want to see.

I am proud of the work in my six years serving as State Representative of this district in connecting with people on the local level and helping to amplify their needs and resources, uplift the celebrations, and supporting folks in testifying on legislation, and communicating what’s happening through my weekly E-newsletter, through mailing updates, through promoting state-wide recognition of milestones, our Eagle Scouts, and awarding of state bonding and grants to our community.

Voters in Easton know me, have my number, have my contact, see me often at Greiser’s, at our town events, meetings, gatherings, and celebrations, and know they have a representative with a record of championing our collective voices into statewide policy, someone who is also a neighbor they can call directly for help with an agency issue, like unemployment filing, United Illuminating or Optimum issues, and they know they can get response and results.

I am proud of how we have elevated the expectation of elected officials across government to be responsive, accountable, and communicating what’s happening and how to participate. It’s everyone’s government, it’s everyone’s future, and we have to stay in touch with our elected officials to make good policy for everyone.

The focus of my campaign is highlighting how critical it is in this moment to stay informed and engaged, not just to show up for voting but to shape how and who we invest in as a statewide community, to make meaningful changes to our public service landscape and the public good, especially prioritizing economic justice, civil, reproductive and privacy rights, workforce protections, and accountable, good governance when our democracy is indeed fragile.

I want to deliver an experience in government that our young people can see themselves participating in — that demonstrates in Easton, and across Connecticut — we show up, we matter, we’re engaged and fighting for a justice-centered future and an inhabitable planet for everyone, including our wildlife!
